AIIMS MBBS Exam 2107: Registration Opens, How to Apply


All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has started online registrations for Bachelor of Medicine and bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) entrance examination 2017 which will be held on 28th May, 2017. The last date to fill up the form is February 23 and window will be open till 5PM on the last day of registration.

The exam is conducted every year for admissions in MBBS courses in seven prestigious AIIMS institutes across the country- New Delhi, Patna, Bhopal, Jodhpur, Bhubaneshwar, Rishikesh and Raipur.

The computer based test, which will be held across various centers will be conducted in two shifts- 9AM to 12.30PM and 3PM to 6.30PM.

Last year, there were a total of 677 seats being offered at AIIMS institutes with Delhi having 77 seats and other six institutes having 100 seats each. As announced last year, the number of seats available at the Delhi institute will be increased from the present 77 to 100. Thus, candidates will be competing for 700 seats which are being offered in totality.

The results will be announced on 14th June and counseling sessions will be conducted in three phases in July, August and September.

First counseling session will be held on 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th of July, 2017

Second counseling session will be held on 3rd of the August, 2017

Third counseling session will be held on 5th September, 2017

Open counseling will be held, if required, on 26th of September, 2017

Eligibility criteria

All the candidates applying for the exam must be intermediate (12 class) passed, from a recognized education board with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology as subjects. They should have scored at least 60% aggregate marks if they belong to general category and 50% aggregate marks if they fall in SC/ST/OPH categories.

Candidates appearing for the qualifying examinations for this academic session can also appear for the entrance exam.

As far as the Exam pattern is concerned, there will be 200 objective questions from Physics, Chemistry, Biology and General Knowledge. Candidate will be given three and a half hour to complete the paper. There will be no negative marking and for each correct answer candidate will be given one mark.

Application form for AIIMS MBBS can be filled at the official website of AIIMS. Following are the steps that one needs to follow in order to get registered-

  • Go to home page of the official website of AIIMS
  • Go to exam section and select academic courses option
  • Select MBBS under the undergraduate category
  • Click on ‘AIIMS MBBS-2017 registrations have been started’
  • In case you are not registered already, complete the registration process
  • If you are already registered, enter your ID and password and then login
  • Read the instructions carefully and enter the required details
  • Then, submit your form
