A look to Rani’s Journey
Rani was born on March 21, 1978 in Mumbai. She comes from a film-oriented Bengali family, her father founded of Filmalaya Studios, her mother was a Playback Singer, and her brother is a film Producer-turned Director. Her maternal aunt Debashree Roy is a renowned Bengali actress. Kajol, Tanisha and Director Ayan Mukherji are her cousins. Rani did her first film when she was 14, it was a Bengali film “Biyer Phool (1992)”. She made her Bollywood debut in “Raja ki Ayegi Baraat (1996)”. Her career started with Karan Johar’s “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998)” for which she won Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress. After this she kept on doing phenomenal films with the top actors of the time. She received her first Filmfare Best Actress Award for “Hum Tum (2004)”; it was a romantic comedy opposite Saif Ali Khan. And then she kept on winning awards for various films back to back. Her outstanding performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Black (2005)” and the Best Actor Awards she bagged for the film is a different story all together.

In 2014, she featured as a police officer in “Mardaani”. This was the last film of Rani after which she got married to Director Aditya Chopra in 2014. In 2015 she became a mother of a beautiful daughter Adira and got busy enjoying her motherhood.
