Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister Ranil Wickremsinghe is all set to visit India next week. The purpose of Sri Lankan’s Prime Minister is to set the agenda for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s trip to Colombi which is set in the month of May.
An MEA spokesperson said, “ The visit of the PM of Sri Lanka to India from April 25 is part of our continuing engagement with the Governmnet of Sri Lanka at the highest level.”
Wickremsinghe will be visiting India from 25th April to 29th April 2017. The visit to india is both a private and official one. He will come to India for a wedding and then on 26th he will proceed to Delhi for a official meeting. Further Narendra Modi will host a lunch meet for Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister.
Agenda’s for the visit will include economic matters. Also they will discuss ongoing dispute regarding fishing matter in the Palk Strait.
Modi will inaugurate 14th United Nations Day in Sri Lanka on 12th May. The day is also celebrated as “vesak” day celebrations. Vesak is one of the most important Buddhist festivals. The festival will be celebrated from 12th May to 14th May. The opening ceremony will be celebrated at Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall and the closing ceremony will be at Kandy.
Few other countries have also been invited for the UN day celebrations. The theme is “Buddha’s Teachings, Social Justice and Sustainable World Piece”.
