After stirring the Indian Telecom Service field with the launch of 4G LTE service, company is aiming to change the Broadcast scenario too. While launching Reliance Jio last year, Mukesh Ambani had also announced another internet based service. We are talking about Reliance Jio GigaFiber or Reliance Jio Fibre or Reliance Broadband service. The company went into early testing of Fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) service last year that promised broadband speed of 1Gbps. Now, company has started to roll out Jio Fibre service in Mumbai. While some residents are using the Reliance Jio broadband service, it is still in its testing phase. One cannot request for a Reliance Jio broadband connection unless it is available in your area. Speed and plan offered Reliance is promising speed of 1 Gbps which is 1 GB per second which means one can download an entire movie within few seconds. People will get rid of the continuous buffering with high speed internet. But the question is that is it really possible? Well, so far the response has been good. Reliance has commenced phase 1 testing in some regions in Mumbai and results are positive. Users are getting speed between 70mbps to 100 Mbps. According to reports, Reliance Jio broadband has a limit of 100 GB data at full speed every month. Post the data usage, the speed of internet will go down to 1 Mbps. User can get 100Mbps free for the first 90 days or three months after which the charges will apply. Nothing is official regarding the pricing and plans for Reliance Jio GigaFibre. For routers installation, one has to pay 4,500 bucks. After the end of the trial period, Reliance Jio will collect the router and refund the money if user does not wish to continue with the broadband service. Reliance Jio is still in the testing phase which is happening in some parts of Mumbai and Pune. There is no information about its official launch and when it will be available for the wider audience.
