UP is All Set for Phase-1 Assembly Elections on 11th February

People of UP are set to vote in seven phases for 403 seats. The major parties fighting the battle are Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party, Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress. For the recent elections the Prime Minister came for BJP’s campaign.

Deputy Election Commissioner Vijay Kumar Dev has directed the authorities in the western Uttar Pradesh districts to keep strict watch and surveillance in order to queer any indecent incident in the upcoming state Assembly polls.

Political activities because of the upcoming elections:

The ruling Samajwadi Party has forged an alliance with the Congress.

The members of each party are going place to place for their campaign.

First phase assembly elections in UP

The first phase of voting will be held on 11th February 2017. Total of 836 candidates will battle in the first phase. According to some sources, from these 836 candidates, 302 are Crorepatis and 168 have some impending criminal cases against them.

The first polling will be done from 73 constituencies in 15 districts.

Here is the list of the districts under phase 1:

  4. Etah
  5. Firozabad
  6. Gautam Buddha Nagar
  7. Ghaziabad
  8. Hapur
  9. Hathras
  10. Kasganj
  11. Mathura
  12. Meerut
  13. Muzaffarnagar
  14. Shamli

 

District of Muzaffarnagar has 80 candidates contesting for 6 assembly seats.

Uttar Pradesh has 80 parliamentary constituencies out of which 17 are reserved for the candidate of scheduled caste. The state has 403 legislative assembly constituencies out of which 85 are reserved for the scheduled caste.

Problems of the State:

Already the state is facing many livelihood challenges. It has more than 29.4% of its population living under the poverty line. Along with this, quality of the basic infrastructure such as education, power, and roadways is sad and corruption is the prime factor to be looked upon.

So, keeping all the problems in mind, people should come out and select their own rulers, who will in future look on their needs and remove all the hurdles and make their city a smart-city!
