Soon Yogi Adityanath becomes the CM of Uttar Pradesh; he took on some serious and major step. On the first day after his swearing ceremony he ordered two slaughterhouses to be closed in the state. In the manifesto, Bharatiya Janta Party promised to close the entire slaughterhouse across the state once it comes into power. Earlier, Yogi led a long campaign in Eastern UP and then promised to close down all illegal abattoirs running in the state. Soon after Yogi took oath, that very night two slaughterhouses that were being operated were shutdown.
The Allahabad Nagar Nigam authorities sealed two slaughterhouses. According to the reports, the two-slaughterhouse shuts were allegedly running in the city. Also, last year, National Green Tribunal ordered to close the slaughterhouse. Whereas the owner says that the action was taken without any prior notice.
The butchers are worried, as this is harming their business.
Many meat eaters have said, meat and politics are two different things, and must be seen differently. One should not mix both.
Uttar Pradesh is one of the tops for buffalo meat producing and exporting states in the country. Slaughter of Buffalo and of bull or bullock over the age of 15 and unfit for the purpose of breeding is permitted in the state.
The district’s Veterinary Officer, Dheeraj Goyal said, “We sealed one slaughterhouse each in Atala locality of the city and at Naini, on the outskirts, last night. The NGT had ordered closure of these in May 2016. He also added, “following reports that though these slaughterhouses had been shown as shut on paper, business was running there as usual.” He also informed, NGT had similarly recommended closure of another slaughterhouse in the area but as there have been no reports of illegal business, his department had requested the police to keep a watch.
