BSNL Offers 1GB of Free Data to Promote Number of Internet Users

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. is one of the largest telecomm providers in the country with more than 60% market share. However, in recent years the company’s revenues and market share have fallen into heavy losses due to intense competition in the Indian telecommunications sector. Company has recently made a big announcement to promote the number of internet users and to keep its flow in the market.

BSNL offers 1 GB of free data to the users who are not its Internet services. The intention behind this offer is to promote number of internet users in BSNL network. The offer would be available across the country. The company has recently launched a new tariff plan in which it is offering 2GB data per day at Rs. 339. Earlier in the month, the company had also announced a new internet plan with double the data offered by Reliance Jio, which also included unlimited free calling in its own network.

All about the Rs.339 Plan

A customer can buy the plan just Rs 339 without any special membership to avail 2GB data and unlimited calls to BSNL network. The additional benefit in the plan is that the users also get 25 minutes of free call to other network every day and after that 25 paisa would be charged for minute long phone call. However the plan is just for the 3G data; it is not available in 4G.

BSNL Director for Consumer Mobility R K Mittal had said, “We are committed to providing affordable and efficient services to all segments of our loyal mobile customers. We offer best prices to our customers considering present trend of Indian telecom industry”.

The Company said that the data of 2 GB per day is one of the best in the industry

With the Market Competition

BSNL has always been one of the most handed-down networks nationwide, where other private telecom operators have limited reach. But the popularity had seen a massive fall with Jio entering the Indian Market last year as it offered to provide free calling, roaming and data services for about a year. Now when Jio has planned to monetize its services starting from this March 31, BSNL has utilized the chance and has launched a lot of packs that would keep the company from losing its competitive edge.

The various revised packs offered by BSNL are data packs, looking at the public usage and the 339 pack is the only one pack offering bundled services including free data and calling. The free 1GB data which is being offered by BSNL is a pan-India offer which means it can be availed by anyone in any of the telecom circles across the country.
