Google launched its smartphones Pixel and Pixel XL which were the heavily talked and most awaited devices in 2016. They were manufactured by the Taiwanese-based company HTC. HTC had a contract of two years with Google. However, as per the Google’s expectation the Pixel smartphones couldn’t manage to clutch huge mass. This is most likely because of the expensive price of the devices which was not affordable by everyone and also the availability of the devices was in selective markets. But still Google managed to sell over 2.1 million units of both Pixel and Pixel XL in a period of about six months as the smartphones were released in October last year. Rise in count is still expected in coming days.
Upcoming Pixel Devices
Expanding its Pixel line up, Google is currently working on three smartphones. They are likely to be Pixel 2, Pixel XL2 and Pixel 3. Out of which Pixel 2 and Pixel XL2 are expected this year. Google is expecting to sell around 5 million units of Pixel 3. Even before Google could confirm the making of Pixel 3, it started gaining popularity all across the web.
The upcoming Google Pixel 2 series will also be manufactured by HTC. However, HTC is now competing with three other companies for the Pixel 3 contract. Along with HTC, LG, TCL and Coolpad are in line for the contract with Google for Pixel 3 smartphones.
