PV Sindu Becomes the 2nd Woman in the Badminton Ranking

According the recent performances, PV Sindu becomes the 2nd ranked woman in the world. She is the silver medalist in the Rio Olympics and also claimed the first India Open Supersries title on Sunday. She beats her olympic rival Carolina Marin from playing from Spain team.

Taipei Tai Tzu Ying from China is on the top of the list with 87911 points, PV Sindu from India at second with 75759 points and Carolina Marin from Spain at third position with 75664 points.

PV Sindu made a jump in her ranking majorly after winning the India Open Superseries where she defeated Spain’s Carolina Marin. The scores were 21-19, 21-16 in the finals. Carolina Marin is an olympic champion who is now defeated by PV Sindu. PV Sindu also defeated Carolina last year in the BWF Super Series played in Dubai.

Other Indian players who are in the top 10 list includes, Saina Nehwal. She is at 9th position. Both the young players, Nehwal and Sindu lost the last round of Malaysia Open Superseries. Sindu lost to Chen Yufei from China 18-21, 21-19, 21-17 in singles at the Prepaduan Stadium.

At the India Open, Sindu also defeated Saina Nehwal in the quarterfinals. Saina Nehwal was the first woman in the Badminton rankings in the year 2015.

In men’s singles, Ajay Jayaram was at the highest position and made the country at 20th position. He defeated Viktor Axelsen from England in the second round at the Malaysia Open. But unfortunately he was ranked as 20th position from the previous 19th.
