Spicy Prawn Biryani

  • 300 Grams Basmati Rice
  • 300 Grams Prawns
  • 2 Onions Chopped
  • 2 Tablespoon Ginger-Garlic Paste
  • 1/5 Tablespoon Kashmir Chilli Powder
  • 2 Tablespoon Coriander Powder
  • 1/2 Tablespoon Garam Masala Powder
  • 1/4 Tablespoon Turmeric Powder
  • 2 Tomatoes Chopped
  • 3 Green Chillies Slited
  • 1 Tablespoon Poppy seeds
  • 3 Bay Leaves
  • 2 cinnamon stick
  • 4 Cloves
  • 4 Green Cardamoms
  • Mace A Small Piece
  • 1 Tablespoon Caraway Seeds/Shah Jeera
  • 3/4 cup Curd
  • 2 Tablespoon Cashew Nuts
  • Salt To taste
  • 2 Tablespoon Oil or Ghee
  • 2 Tablespoon Coriander Leaves Chopped
  • 375 ML Water

How to Make

  1. First, clean the prawns and remove the veins properly. Then marinate it with 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste , 1/2 tablespoon chilli powder, a pinch of turmeric powder and salt and keep aside for 10 minutes.
  2. After this soak rice the rice for 30 minutes and keep aside.
  3. Then take a pan and let it heat. When the pan is hot cook the prawns on low heat till the water is absorbed. Then take them out on a plate.
  4. Afterwards, heat oil in a pan and add the bay leaf, cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, mace poppy seeds, caraway seeds and cashew nuts and let them fry for 2 minutes till they crackle.
  5. Then add chopped onion and green chillies and sauté properly till they turn golden brown. After your sauté is done add the remaining ginger-garlic paste and fry till oil starts separating.
  6. Then add the remaining chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and garam masala powder and sauté for 1 minute. When all the mixture is properly mixed add the chopped tomatoes and cook till oil separates.
  7. After all your mixture is ready add the prawns and mix them well. Then slowly add curd and mix slowly.
  8. Then, add the soaked rice and stir for 2 minutes. After this add water and mix everything and cover it with a lid. Let the rice cook till it is soft.
  9. Your spicy prawn biryani is ready. You can also garnish it with chopped coriander leaves on the top and serve hot.
